Akron is a team "on the uprise," according to Temple center John Palumbo.
This Philadelphia Inquirer story heaps more praise upon the Zips than they have heard in a few years.
If you read that story, the 15-point spread sounds reasonable. But it's probably not. Temple is a powerhouse, with a march-down-the-field offense and a punch-you-in-the-chops defense.
The reality is, Temple has drubbed Akron by a combined count of 113-23 over the last three seasons. If you think that's about to change, then your Kool-Aid is stronger than the substance that Obama supporters are sucking down (sorry, I couldn't resist).
The Zips will be without three injured starters: offensive tackle Jarrod Pughsley (quad), linebacker Matt Little (foot), and cornerback Bill Alexander (collarbone).
So set your expectations accordingly. As a Zips fan, look for the positives. Can Clayton Moore move the chains? Can the defensive line build on a solid opener? Will Jawon Chisholm have room to run?
I don't see the Zips winning, but if they do, it will completely alter expectations for Akron across the MAC.
