From a MAC news release: University of Akron senior forward Quincy Diggs was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Diggs helped the Zips (10-5, 2-0 MAC) win two road games to open league play last week. He finished the week averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assist per game.
In Akron's 72-68 win at Ball State on Wednesday, Diggs led all scorers with 21 points to go with two rebounds, two steals and an assist. His pair of free throws with 9.2 seconds left helped seal the win.
On Sunday, Diggs played a huge role in Akron's 83-80 double overtime win at Ohio. He led the Zips to the win with nine points in the two overtimes, none bigger than his put-back with 30.4 seconds to go in the second overtime to give Akron a three-point advantage. He hit a clutch jumper with 2.2 seconds left to tie the game in the first overtime, setting up the Zips' win in the second overtime. He finished with a team-high 20 points to go with seven boards.
