Akron Zips bring the Wagon Wheel home

By George Thomas Published: November 2, 2013

The Akron Zips vaporized another bad milestone Saturday at InfoCision Stadium when they beat the Kent State Golden Flashes 16-7 for the first time in four years.

Running back Jawon Chisholm rushed for 151 yards on 27 carries, his second consecutive game of 100 yards or more and placekicker Robert Stein connected on 3-of-3 field goals, including a 29-yard field to make things tougher on the Golden Flashes as the game wound down.

But more than anything, the Zips’ defense deserves the lion’s share of credit for the win forcing five turnovers – two fumbles and three interceptions - on their way to the victory.
