Anywhere but Canada!

Football predicts an International Bowl pitting Akron against Rutgers.

Actually, I think if you offered the International Bowl to J.D. Brookhart today, he might take it.

It is a new bowl played in Toronto on Jan. 6. That means it will have the complete attention of the college football world. You wouldn't be able to bring shorts, but it's better than nothing.

Here are the other MAC predictions:

  • GMAC Bowl - UTEP vs. Toledo

  • Motor City Bowl - Northern Illinois vs. Memphis

  • Birmingham Bowl - Houston vs. Pitt (MAC school surprisingly not included)

Men's basketball

Nevada's Mark Fox has backed out of consideration for Nebraska's head coaching job, reports.

Fox and Kent State's Jim Christian were the leading candidates for the job. It appears Nebraska also is considering UTEP's Don Sadler.

Christian served as an assistant coach at Pittsburgh while Nebraska AD Steve Pederson was there.

Pederson said he would like to make the decision no later than Aug. 21.
