Keith Dambrot tried mixing up the starting lineup, but it didn't bring the Zips out of their slump.

Akron lost its third-straight game against Miami, which was buoyed by its starting frontcourt's combined 45 points and 28 rebounds. The RedHawks outrebounded the Zips 42 to 31. They shot twice as many free throws (28 to 14).

Mike Bardo and Quincy Diggs started in lieu of Brett McClanahan and Zeke Marshall. Nik Cvetinovic led Akron with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Akron returns home Saturday to play Bowling Green. The 2-3 zone from Ohio hindered the Zips last week, so the Falcons' similar set will be the big challenge. It's safe to say the Zips first-round bye hopes cannot absorb another home loss.
