Boston College not coming
Football
There was a rumor that Boston College would be Akron's fourth out-of-conference game next season. And the Golden Eagles would come to the Rubber Bowl. It is untrue. The fourth game hasn't been decided yet. I'll let you know once I know.
In other news, I found this report from CNN. It discusses revenue and profits from football programs. It said Akron was the only bowl team that didn't take in at least $1 million in revenue in 2005. Also, it was the second-to-worst in losing money, having a deficit of $2.9 million. Only Central Florida and George O'Leary's massive contract was worse at profitability. The athletic department, however, is the university's best advertiser for increasing its student body. Losing that much money doesn't bother me as long as it's considered an investment into growing the university, which it is.
Also, College Football News named Luke Getsy No. 79 of its 100 brightest stars from bowl season. Jabari Arthur was 89th.
