To steal a Bon Jovi line, "it's now or never."
If Akron intends to beat a Division I-A team in 2011, Saturday is going to be the day.
The 1-9 Zips have two games remaining, and one is against a 6-5 Western Michigan team.
The other is tomorrow at Buffalo, where the 2-8 Bulls are favored by a whopping 11.5 points. Statistically, Buffalo is just a little bit better than Akron in most categories.
Buffalo's only win was at home against the MAC East champion Ohio Bobcats on Oct. 8 -- and by one point. Get ready for a pillow fight.
Meanwhile, on the sunnier side of campus, the men's basketball team will play Valparaiso and Duquesne today and tomorrow, respectively. The games will be held at Valparaiso.
Valpo finished at 23-12 last season, earning a spot in the CIT. Duquesne finished at 19-13, making it to the quarterfinals of the CBI Tournament.
Both teams have played No. 16 Arizona this season on the road, and both lost by eight or nine.
