Bunbury scores first goal for U.S. Men's National Soccer Team
Former University of Akron soccer standout Teal Bunbury scored his first goal for the U.S. Men's National Team late Saturday night in a 1-1 draw against Chile in a friendly before a crowd of 18,580 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Esteban Paredes gave Chile a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 53rd minute.
Bunbury's equalizer came off a penalty kick in the 75th minute after teammate Juan Agudelo was tripped up in the penalty box by a Chilean defender.
‘‘I wanted to make a difference; I wanted to make an impact,’’ said Bunbury, who buried the penalty kick into the lower right corner of the net.
