Camp notes: Aug. 20
Football
I stopped by practice for about an hour this afternoon.
-
Here are some notes:
Chris Jacquemain and Carlton Jackson continued to split time with the first- and second-team offenses.
Although I'm not at liberty to discuss particular formations, I think the Zips will find a way for their four running backs to touch the ball.
Jared Cecchetti wore a medical boot today at practice. I'll find out more tomorrow.
I watched the kickers for a few minutes. Igor Iveljic is consistently about three yards longer than his competition. Considering last year's fiasco, it should take a real breakdown on Iveljic's part not to win the job.
Some of you have asked if the soccer team could play in the new stadium. I asked Mike Cawood about it, and he said teams try as hard as they can to avoid playing on FieldTurf. The ball rolls much farther on artificial surface. Compare it to putting on your living room carpet, versus the greens at some place at which you pay $15 for greens fees.
