Can't we move the Tiffin game?

Men's basketball

I admit to being an avid follower of Akron athletics, but there is no way I'm going to the Tiffin game on Sunday afternoon rather than watching the Browns against the Steelers.

If the athletic department is smart, it will bump that game. Heck, they'd get more fans playing at Memorial Hall on Sunday at 8 p.m. than at Rhodes Arena at 2.

  • Here is a game story from tonight. Jeremiah Wood had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Although I didn't see the game, those stats indicate he's probably back to form. Akron totaled 50 interior points, which is outstanding for a team that relies a lot on the 3-pointer.

This season concludes with two certainties: Akron has talent, but the team is at least a couple years from contention in the MAC.

Western Michigan beat Akron 3-0 in the first round of the MAC Tournament tonight.

Megan Rodriguez, Brionna Patterson and Elizabeth Martin proved their potential as freshmen. Kim Horn played admirably as the lone senior. However, only time can improve this team's record.

Something has stood out to me the past year while paying attention to the secondary sports at UA: Every team is moving forward. Even the teams whose records do not improve, like Mike Sweitzer's volleyball team, have talented recruits coming in each year.
