Collier takes Butler job

What does it matter that Nebraska coach Barry Collier is going to Butler to be their AD?

Well, it matters because that leaves a vacancy that Kent State's Jim Christian is expected to fill.

It makes sense for Christian, who would probably double his salary. (Collier's salary was about $600,000.) It really stings for the Flashes, who would need to replace their coach pretty late in the offseason.

This is the sort of thing you don't wish on your worst enemy. I'm not sure if I'll be happy because it makes Akron an even clearer favorite to win the MAC, or upset because it could weaken a blossoming rivalry.

  • By the way, previewed Kent State's season. The Flashes are the site's No. 102 in the country and fourth-best team in the MAC. Akron has yet to be previewed, as the site is working down to the top 10 in reverse order.
