A source close to the Akron football program confirmed to the Beacon Journal earlier reports that Colorado quarterback Nick Hirschman is transferring to the Zips.
Hirschman was 55-93 passing (59.1 percent) for 589 yards and threw two touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. In four Colorado spring scrimmages, he threw seven touchdowns and one interception on 32-of-52 passing (61.5 percent).
Hirschman earned a degree in sports communication in three years at Colorado. He will be eligible to play this fall and per the source, will have a chance to compete for the starting gig.
Per Joe Schad of ESPN, Hirschman was impressed with Akron's facilities.
