(I feel badly I haven't covered the team more, because Akron is truly achieving new levels of success under coach Jodi Kest. Someday, a blogger will cover all of the teams. I regret that I don't have the time to put a good effort into covering the Lady Zips, but I'm really rooting them on.)
Conyers is MAC Defensive Player of the Year
Men's basketball
Jimmy Conyers was a nonfactor for most of his career at Akron. He capped his improbable rise by earning the MAC Defensive Player of the Year.
Coach Keith Dambrot said this about his senior forward:
This is a tribute to Jimmy’s work ethic. He has been our top rebounder all season and has great ability to guard both inside and outside play. I couldn’t be any more proud of him. He is without a doubt our most valuable player and without his efforts this season we would not have enjoyed the successes we have thus far.
