Erick Howard is '50-50'
Football
Akron got Erick Howard's signature on a letter of intent, but Zips fans are very aware that doesn't ensure that a given player will suit up in Blue and Gold.
Howard told Scout.com that, even if he does qualify, he might attend a prep school with hopes of playing for Ohio State.
Overall, the running back from Canton called it a "50-50" chance that he keeps his commitment to Akron. Howard added that Jim Tressel told him he chose a good school in Akron, but that the Buckeyes would warmly welcome a fully qualifying two-time Mr. Football after prep school.
Howard was named Ohio Mr Football in 2008 and 2009. As a junior, he ran for 2,304 yards and scored 31 touchdowns in 14 games. As a senior, he rushed for 2,056 yards and scored 27 touchdowns in 11 games.
His career total of 6,013 yards rushing is a Stark County record and ranks 15th in Ohio history.
