The 2014 Major League Soccer SuperDraft will begin at noon Thursday on ESPNews.
The first two rounds of the four-round draft will take place Thursday in the Philadelphia Convention Center. Rounds three and four will take place this upcoming Tuesday.
D.C. United has the top selection. Philadelphia, Vancouver, New England and Dallas have picks two through five. There are a total 77 draft picks.
Four former University of Akron players are in the mix to be selected: midfielder-forward Aodhan Quinn, midfielder-forward Eric Stevenson, midfielder-defender Robbie Derschang and forward Reinaldo Brenes.
Portland, which is coached by former UA coach Caleb Porter, has picks 17, 26, 36, 39, 71 and 73. Columbus has picks 14 and 42.
Sporting Kansas City, the defending MLS Cup champions, have picks 38, 41, 57 and 76.
Porter added former Zips defender Bryan Gallego to the Portland Timbers on Wednesday as a Homegrown Player. Gallego competed for UA for three seasons and has chosen to forgo his senior season and turn pro. The Timbers acquired the Homegrown Player rights to Gallego from the New York Red Bulls as part of a trade Dec. 3, 2012. He was a member of the Red Bulls Academy from 2007-11.
