Former All-American passes away
Men's basketball
Bob Whaley, who earned All-American honors as a senior at Akron, passed away this week, succumbing to lung cancer.
Whaley is 19th on the Zips' all-time scoring list. He served in Ravenna's school district as a coach and teacher for many years.

A note...
Akron will tip off at Bowling Green tomorrow at 2 p.m. There does not appear to be television coverage. It should be interesting to see how Akron bounces back from Akron's biggest upset loss in the Keith Dambrot era.
