J.D. Brookhart hired Emmanuel McDaniel to replace Aaron Alford as the Zips' cornerbacks coach.
McDaniel played eight years in the NFL for the Giants, Colts, Panthers and Cardinals. He retired in 2003.
I don't know much about Alford's work on the field, but McDaniel will be hard pressed to recruit as well as his predecessor.
Miami nearly did it again.
This time a desperation 3 clanked off the rim, ending the RedHawks' season with a 58-56 loss against Oregon.
Once the Ducks realized they couldn't run the floor, they tightened their defense. Despite the loss, Miami finished the season as the nation's only team to hold every opponent under 70.
I predicted Miami to lose big. That was probably more out of anger than logic. Charlie Coles' system does not allow Miami to fall behind by a lot. Also, the RedHawks' offense is adequate to stay with most teams.
The MAC should be proud of a solid showing from its lone representative.
