Prediction -- The Falcons are actually a pretty good matchup for the Zips. Akron should be able to run wild on Bowling Green. The Zips' stalwart secondary will minimize the Falcons' aerial talent. That said, it will be a close game with Bowling Green pulling away in the second half -- which is an irrefutable theme of this season.

A betting Web site astutely points out that Akron and Bowling Green "will both be trying to pick up a win." That's something you can put your money on.
David Lee Morgan's preview says Akron has lacked the big-play capability on offense.
The Toledo Blade has an excellent story about how Akron's program has advanced -- at least, inside football circles -- since J.D. Brookhart took over. When BGSU linebacker Erique Dozier was looking for a college in 2004, Akron wasn't an attractive choice. Now it is.
The PD's Elton Alexander refutes that slightly by saying Akron still has a lot of "How did that happen?" losses.
Bowling Green is favored by between 6.5 and 7 points. The over-under is 56.
