Homecoming game notes
Football
When Akron initially put Florida International on the 2011 schedule, it was likely thought of as a nice, smooth-sailing early-fall victory for the Zippers.
It's very likely the opposite.
Oddsmakers believe FIU will spoil Akron's homecoming with a 17-point win.
The spread has narrowed in recent days because it appears two FIU receivers will sit out, but the two best Panther receivers are still in the lineup.
This is the first time the teams have played, with the Zips returning the road trip next season.
What can Zips fans expect out of the Panthers? FIU is a well-balanced team. Below is coach Rob Ianello's press conference this week, where Ianello said he admires the Panthers' steady improvement from a 1-11 record in 2007 to a favorite to win the Sun Belt Conference.
