Football
As MACReportOnline.com points out, three Zips had a great night at the Super Bowl.
That includes Jason Taylor, who won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. Domenik Hixon got in a little shoving match, but didn't do much as a kick returner. Chase Blackburn was the player infamously running off the field while the Patriots snapped for a punt. That penalty extended the drive but did not lead to a score.
In an related note, Bill Belichick won the John Rocker Uncouth Jerk of the Year Award.
Kent State falls in Mid-Major poll
Men's basketball
Akron remained 10th in today's Mid-Major Top 25 following a perfect week while Kent State slid four spots to 11th after its loss at Toledo.
Ohio continued its rise. The Bobcats went from 21st to 14th.

Notes...
Keith Dambrot is happy to play VCU in the BracketBuster game. The Rams lead the all-time series, 2-0.
Dambrot stressed the importance of feeding the ball to Jeremiah Wood in his weekly press conference. Akron will play four of its next five games on the road. This week, they will travel to Western Michigan (Wednesday at 7 p.m.) and Ball State (Saturday at 7 p.m.).
