Lady Zips advance to MAC semis
Women's basketball
Akron snapped a nine-game MAC Tournament losing streak by trouncing the fifth-seeded Eastern Michigan Eagles in the MAC semifinals tonight, 72-46.
It was a matchup between the MAC's best offense, EMU, and the conference's best defense, Akron. The Zips stymied the Eagles by holding them to 37.5 percent shooting.
Next up is conference powerhouse Bowling Green. The Zips and Falcons square off Friday at 2:30 p.m.
The Plain Dealer's Elton Alexander wrote about how far this program has come and the philosophy of MAC Coach of the Year Jodi Kest. Winning on Friday would be a landmark achievement on a season that has already impacted the school record books.
Men's basketball
I will break down the Akron-EMU matchup tomorrow morning. I will also be liveblogging from The Q, so you'll have something to check while sitting in the office.
