Take what you know about MAC football and forget it.
Several scores and outcomes yesterday make me wonder if the experts (I suppose that includes me) really know what they're talking about...
- Toledo and Northern Illinois, which appeared indestructable except by each other, lost to middling MAC teams. Western Michigan took advantage of an awful game by Toledo's new quarterback to win 31-10. Northern Illinois got a huge game from Garrett Wolfe, but didn't have a clue about stopping Ohio's offense in a 35-23 home loss.
- It took three overtimes for Bowling Green to finish off Buffalo.
- Miami and Ball State nearly came away with road victories against Big 10 schools.
Of course, some things remained true...
- Kent State continued to prove it is hunting a winless season.
By the way, it couldn't hurt to vote for Luke Getsy and Akron as ESPN's Pontiac Game Changing Performance. If Akron wins, the university receives $5,000 in scholarship money.
