The new tournament format for the MAC wastes no time getting started.
Monday, the first round takes place on campus sites. Notably, Ball State travels to Western Michigan and Miami plays at Toledo. On Wednesday, the four winners get narrowed to two.
Thursday is the quarterfinals, where Kent and Ohio join the fray. Finally, on Friday, Akron and Buffalo get their crack at the quarterfinal winners. Saturday is the championship.
The format makes it nearly impossible for a team not in the top four seeds to win it all. When Akron finally plays on Friday, it will likely either be No. 4 Kent State or No. 8 Western Michigan.
I will be liveblogging throughout the week, including from Quicken Loans Arena.
