This won't be a season where Zips fans rack up many frequent flier miles.
Akron will play nine of its 12 games against teams from the Buckeye State, including the return of the Wagon Wheel game to InfoCision Stadium on Nov. 12.
There was a slight adjustment from the prior arrangements, with the Florida International game being moved from Sept. 10 to Oct. 8 -- to make room for a home game against Temple to start the season's home schedule.
Aside from the Kent State game, the date to mark is Sept. 3, when the Zips and Buckeyes square off in the 'Shoe.
The MAC portion of the schedule also includes Buffalo, Miami, Ohio and the three directional Michigans.
In their trip to Athens tomorrow, the Zips can win their 20th game and clinch a first-round bye in the MAC Tournament.
It's a critical game for the Bobcats, as well, as Ohio also has a decent chance to avoid playing a week from tomorrow.
John Groce's team has one of the league's best offenses and worst defenses. The Bobcats had little trouble dispatching the Zips at Rhodes Arena on Jan. 12. That game signified that Akron is a team with problems. But now the Zips have won seven straight.
Ohio has won six of its last seven. On Saturday, the Bobcats upset Kent State at the M.A.C. Center in overtime.
This could be a preview of the MAC Championship, so most fans of the conference will be watching.
