Miscellaneous
Until tomorrow, when the men's basketball team opens the MAC season against Ball State, the Zips scene is pretty quiet.
So guess what? I'll make the news. No, I'm not going to drunkenly charge onto the field at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
I Facebooked several prominent college athletes. Facebook.com is a Web site that allows college students to connect in "friendship." My list includes Bowling Green quarterback Omar Jacobs, Ohio State wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr., former Utah center Andrew Bogut, Virginia offensive tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson and former Kent State quarterback Joshua Cribbs. I wanted to get Southern California quarterback Matt Leinart, running back Reggie Bush, Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk, Akron's Charlie Frye and Duke guard J.J. Redick. However, those players were unavailable.
For these stars to become my "friends," they have to confirm me online.
I am already "friends" with many Akron football, men's soccer and men's basketball stars, but I actually know some of them.
I'll keep you updated. My instincts tell me nobody cares if Jacobs and Co. click their mouses on a Web site button.
