Ohio nearly pulls off upset; MAC rundown

Men's basketball

I hope you saw last night's game.

It was one of the most exciting March Madness games in the past few years.

In the end, Ohio lost to No. 1 seed North Carolina, but the Bobcats gave an incredible effort and made some giant plays.

Unfortunately for Akron (but fortunately for the MAC), all of those Bobcats are coming back. Whether coach John Groce does is another question.

Here is a rundown of how other MAC teams fared in their postseason ventures:

Kent State (21-12) ended its 2011-12 season with a 73-58 loss at USC Upstate (21-12) in the first round of the Post Season Tournament on Thursday night in South Carolina.

Toledo's season, which saw the Rockets register a 15- win improvement from a year ago, came to an close Saturday afternoon in Savage Arena with a 69-51 defeat to Robert Morris (26-10) in the second round of the 2012 Tournament. The Rockets beat McNeese State in the first round.

Buffalo fell in the second round of the Postseason Tournament to Oakland, 84-76. The Bulls end the season with a 20-11 record, the second straight season UB has eclipsed the 20-win mark. They beat American in the first round of the tournament.

Bowling Green’s first trip to the postseason in three years ended in the first round of the First Round, as Oakland defeated the Falcons 86-69 Wednesday night.
