Ohio State loses two more starters

By mrasor Published: September 2, 2011

If only...

If only Akron could have played this game five years into Rob Ianello's tenure.

If only Akron could have played this game to open one of the seasons in which fans were optimistic about J.D. Brookhart's roster.

Because THIS is the time, if ever, to snatch a win from Ohio State. The Buckeyes suspended three more players yesterday, including two starters. Ohio State is now down to its third-string running back (behind starter Boom Herron and recently suspended Jordan Hall).

There's a new coach, new quarterback, multiple suspensions, a lot of uncertainty, and a giant thundercloud hovering above campus, called the NCAA.

Unfortunately, the Zips have perhaps their most depleted roster in the past decade, and will be one of the worst teams in the MAC.

It's just a shame that both programs are hitting a low point, because this might have been Akron's chance for a program-turning victory.

I will liveblog from the game tomorrow. Check back then for live updates.
