Men's basketball
Binghamton coach Al Walker was truly embarrassed after his team's 35-point defeat to Akron.
Akron's Keith Dambrot, meanwhile, was pleased with the Zips' offensive cohesion and defensive effort.
- In other news, Bubba Walther dropped 20 in Ohio's win at St. Bonaventure. He is scoring quite a bit since becoming eligible.
Miscellaneous
The Buchtelite's Outsiders wrote a song to express what they want from the Zips for Christmas. You should read (and sing along). They are excellent songwriters.
- The Buchtelite won't publish again until Thursday, Jan. 25.
Football
Luke Getsy, Tim Crouch and Mark Groza made the Academic All-MAC Team.
Rumor has it, Crouch is also a frontrunner for "Most likely to quit on his teammates." Just kidding. But, no. Seriously.
Softball
Coach Julie Jones compiled her first recruiting class.
Two of the players -- Brittany Clarke and Monica Shorter -- have some amazing high school stats. The others -- Sarah Stromack and Olivia Hegedus -- should shore up the defense.
Rifle
The Zips will try to remain undefeated Saturday when they host Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.
Sophomore Julie DeBrita leads Akron this season in air rifle.
