University of Akron women's soccer coach Chris Pfau announced the signing of eight athletes to national letters of intent and the addition of one transfer.

The recruiting class includes Walsh Jesuit High School senior Brianna Kanz and three players from Las Vegas , Nev. – Hailey Kirkwood, Meghan Brascia and Lexa Green.

The class also features Alexandra Frawley, from Pennsylvania , and three other Ohioans – Carli Pimm, Karina Atkinson and Danielle Reymann.

“I'm very happy that these student-athletes decided to choose The University of Akron,” Pfau said. “The staff has done a tremendous job bringing this class together. Every year we have tried to build the program and improve it. This class will surely help us do that. I am very excited about this class and can't wait to see them playing in our brand new stadium next fall. Each recruit comes from a great club and all have top level club experience.”

Also joining the Zips in 2010 is Kent State transfer Rachel Dennis, a four-year starter at Jackson High School and 2009 graduate. Dennis earned All-Ohio honors and was the Federal League Player of the Year.

Kanz was four-year letter winner at Walsh and helped the Warriors win the Division I state championship in 2010.  The Warriors shutout 52 opponents and compiled a 66-8-11 record during her four years.

UA is 9-0-1 against Mid-American Conference East Division opponents in the past two seasons. The Zips return co-leading scorer Rachel Phillip and All-MAC Freshman Team player Kelly DeNiro.

“This class will add speed and athleticism to an experienced roster,” Pfau said.
