Prize fight: Ohio State to pay $850K for game with Akron
Football
Akron will receive $850,000 for playing at Ohio Stadium against the Buckeyes on Sept. 3, the ABJ's Tom Gaffney reports.

Men's basketball
The Zips finished their trip to America Jr. with an 80-76 win over Carleton University yesterday.
Carleton had won seven of the last nine Canadian Interuniversity Sport national titles.
Alex Abreu led Akron with 15 points, eight assists and three steals. Several of the newcomers contributed significantly during the trip to Canada, as well.
