Football
I'll update you on something I read about the vacant linebackers coach position. On Zipsnation.org, a poster said he has a source saying the Zips will hire Mark Criner, the safeties coach at Middle Tennessee State.
He coached linebackers at Cincinnati in 2002 and 2003. The latter year, Criner also was co-defensive coordinator.
As with many message-board scoops, I can't say if it's true.
Men's soccer
I can say that Caleb Porter hired Ryan Higginbotham, who comes to Akron from the Dallas Texans Soccer Club.
Another assistant still is yet to be named.
