Every once in a while, I'll throw out something ridiculous that probably won't happen.
Anyhow, there were rumors last winter that Akron was in play for landing LeSean McCoy, the nation's seventh-best running back out of western Pennsylvania.
McCoy did not qualify academically at Miami (Fla.), where he committed, but never signed a letter of intent. The 'Canes coaches suggested he attend Milford Academy so he could improve his SAT score. He started at Milford, but quit and now is enrolled at Hargrave Academy. This is similar to the path Zips freshman David Harvey took.
Of course, I'm not saying Akron is even in the hunt for McCoy. It would be nice, though. McCoy says he will enroll at Miami in December, but who knows?
