Small lead at half
Men's basketball
It appeared Akron could stroll into Bowling Green with an easy win after forcing a lot of early turnovers with full-court traps.
Then Martin Samarco started making shots.
At the half, the Zips' double-digit lead became just one at 33-32.
Women's basketball
Akron played close at Buffalo last night, but few teams can win by turning the ball over 24 times. The Bulls were victorious, 64-58.
Jessie Crooks set a career high with 26 points, but Sarah Tokodi had another difficult game. She had 10 turnovers herself, compared to three assists. But give the freshman some patience.
In fact, give the whole team patience. It's not easy learning to win on the road or beat better teams at home. Those are the types of conference games the Zips have played so far.
Next up is Ohio on Tuesday night at home. At 8-8, the Bobcats are fairly comparable to Akron. I expect the Zips will get their first MAC win then.
