The Mid-Major Top 25 has been updated. Akron is No. 20. Ohio is No. 5. Buffalo is 13. Kent State is 22. Do these teams deserve to be ranked in the top 25? Yes, but I'd change the order.
Here is my order:
Buffalo is incredibly overrated because of their cupcake non-conference schedule. Ohio is overrated because ESPN gave the team so much credit before the season started. Kent State is solid enough to leapfrog the Bulls, who will probably win their next three against Ball State, Central Michigan and at Bowling Green. Buffalo then will lose the following four games. If I did the polls, I might even slide Miami ahead of Buffalo.
Elton Alexander, the excellent MAC beat writer from the Plain Dealer, mentioned the trend that the MAC West can't keep up with the East. Zips coach Keith Dambrot said: "I think the team that wins the MAC East will have to sweep the MAC West." Akron is halfway there, with a 4-0 record against the other division.
MACReportOnline.com had an interesting set of blurbs on its site. It points out how pathetic Eastern and Central Michigan are. Who do the Zips face in their next two conference games? Eastern and Central Michigan.
The Zips (10-3, 4-0) will ride to Cleveland State (6-8) tonight to beat up on a once-great, but now horrible program. I won't be there because my POS car is in the shop. I ask anyone who attends to leave some comments below.
On an unrelated topic, I think one of this blog's frequent commenters has a fetish with Brady Quinn and/or A.J. Hawk. Geez. Take some deep breaths, VP.
