In three days, Akron will break its 23-year drought by playing Gonzaga at 7:25 p.m. (EST) Sunday.

Some other MAC teams accepted postseason bids. Kent State will travel to Oakland (Mich.) to play in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. Thus, the Flashes will get a chance to extend their streak of consecutive 20-win seasons. Bowling Green earned an automatic bid to the NIT, but will travel to Creighton as a No. 8 seed. Buffalo will travel to Wichita State for a first-round matchup against the Wheat Shockers in the CBI. Miami, meanwhile, held hope for the NIT, but was left out. The RedHawks were not interested in the other two tournaments.
Akron and Gonzaga have never met, according to the Seattle Times.
