Three more football commitments

Football

Akron recently received three more verbal commitments...
Jon Root, tight end, Erie, Pa. Offers: Akron Height: 6-foot-5 Weight: 210 Speed: Not listed Notes: Scout.com praised Root's hands, athletic frame and body control. Rivals.com gives him only two stars. Tight end will be a major concern last year with two graduates and a transfer ( Jose Cruz). The position was a weakness last year, though, so I suppose it can't get much weaker.
David Anderson, linebacker, Cincinnati Offers: Akron Height: 6-3 Weight: 210 Speed: Not listed Notes: The Cincinnati Enquirer named Anderson an all-city player. As a senior, he had 45 tackles, eight sacks, two tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries. Anderson was also named Division V first-team all-district. I don't have Anderson's height, weight or speed because none of the recruiting sites have a profile for him.
Phil Tonga, defensive end, Los Angeles Harbor C.C. (Calif.) Offers: Akron Height: 6-4 Weight: 285 Speed: Not listed Notes: This scoop comes from Captain Kangaroo on ZipsNation.org. Tonga has some phenomenal hair. He's like Fabio with a fury. He is athletic enough to play inside or outside on J.D. Brookhart's new 4-3 defense. I don't have any evidence of this change, but a guy can dream, can't he? Also note that Tonga is teammates with another Zips target, safety Genesis Fonoimoana
