Toledo wins great game

By mrasor Published: February 10, 2007

Men's basketball

After a fast start from Akron, it seemed like the Zips and Rockets traded jabs until the final buzzer.

Toledo landed the final blow and won 68-65.

As a Zips fan, I don't think you can be really upset. Akron went 5-1 against MAC West opponents and lost the hardest game you can play against the West: at Toledo.

Akron's defense had a second-straight off night. I don't really like how the Zips went to a zone, seeing how Toledo specializes in zone-busting penetration and 3s.

Despite Toledo's lack of size, Florentino Valencia matched up well against the Zips bigs. He scored 17. Nick Dials hit a lot of big 3s for Akron, finishing with 17 as well.

I will have much more on the game tomorrow.
