Torrence transfers
Football
DeVoe Torrence's tumultuous career has taken another turn. He decided to transfer, according to reports.
Torrence was one of the top linebacker recruits in the nation and had committed to Ohio State before sexual allegations caused Jim Tressel to withdraw the scholarship offer. The Canton native landed at Akron, where he played a so-so first year at running back.
After a couple practices this spring, Torrence met with coach Rob Ianello and decided to transfer. Jared Wackerly, a third-string walk-on quarterback, also will leave the program.
