UA Football: QB Patrick Nicely leaves Zips
From a UA news release Patrick Nicely has left the football team.
Here is some of the release: “Patrick and I met earlier today and he informed me that he’s going to leave our program to pursue playing opportunities elsewhere, and we will honor that request,” Bowden said. “We wish him the best of luck and are thankful for all that he has done for this program.”
Nicely saw playing time in 30 games between the 2009-11 seasons and was a starter in 19 of those. He closed out his UA career with 3,358 passing yards and 16 touchdowns.
Here's the bottom line, with six QBs in spring football and transfer Dalton Williams and last year's starter Clayton Moore getting the most reps in spring practice, the writing was on the wall. Nicely wasn't going to see the field.
Wiliams looks most comfortable running Bowden's offense right now. Moore is learning and has had some decent moments. If he was interested in being more than a backup, this was Nicely's best option.
