Ubiparipovic is preseason All-American
Men's soccer
Sinisia Ubiparipovic earned a spot on College Soccer News' preseason All-American Team.
The seventh-ranked Zips will play Creighton (ranked 10th in nation) Friday at 8 p.m. for the beginning of the Westfield Cup, which the university is pegging as the nation's premier soccer tournament. That makes me scratch my head, considering the games don't count.
Still, it should make for some exciting action. I'll probably watch both games.
Football
As we all expected, Alex Allen is out for the season. Redshirt freshman Bryant McMillon has moved to second in the running back depth chart. McMillon seemed to be lightly recruited coming out of Cincinnati Hughes Center in 2005.
- Jalil Carter may not be much of a polished football player, but he has some scary potential. That's why J.D. Brookhart has offered the Toledo DB/WR prospect a scholarship. His huge vertical leap and 4.43 speed in the 40-yard dash certainly are why Akron, Kent State and Toledo have interest. The Zips and Flashes are currently the only offers for Carter. Akron made its offer after Carter attended the Zips camp in June.
