AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the Mid-American Conference, announced start times for three more of its 2010 football home games on Tuesday.
The Zips' non-league contest against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 11 will kick off at noon ET, while UA's game against MAC opponents Northern Illinois on Oct. 2 and Western Michigan on Oct. 23 will get underway at 6 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively, at one-year-old InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field. The 2010 season will be the first for Akron under head coach Rob Ianello.

Activities surrounding the Gardner-Webb game will be in remembrance of the 9/11 tragedies and will including a salute to local heroes (police, fire and military). The UA marching band will perform a patriotic halftime show, involving a field-sized American flag.
The Northern Illinois outing will be part of Homecoming weekend, while the Western Michigan tilt will be the first part of an on-campus doubleheader with UA's perennial nationally-ranked men's soccer team. The Zips soccer squad, which was national runner-up in 2009, faces WMU at 7:30 p.m. at newly renovated Lee Jackson Field.
Earlier this month, UA announced that its season opener at InfoCision Stadium-Summer Field versus Big East foe Syracuse would kick off at 6 p.m., and would be carried by ESPN3 (formerly ESPN360). Earlier this spring, it was announced that the Zips' Nov. 17 matchup with Miami (Ohio) would start at either 6 or 8 p.m., pending selection as an ESPN2 or ESPNU national telecast.
Akron's regular-season finale against Buffalo at home on Nov. 26 will have its start time announced at a later date, awaiting selection as an ESPNU or ESPN3 broadcast.
As part of today's MAC announcement, Akron also learned that its Sept. 25 game at Big Ten opponent Indiana will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be shown live on the Big Ten Network. Additionally, times for the majority of the Zips' away contests have also been set. The annual battle for the Wagon Wheel against Kent State on Oct. 9 will begin at 3:30 p.m. at KSU's Dix Stadium, while UA's visit to Ohio on Oct. 16 will get underway at 2 p.m. The Blue and Gold's game at Temple on Oct. 30 and at Ball State on Nov. 6 will both kick off at 1 p.m. A time for the team's contest at SEC opponent Kentucky on Sept. 18 is yet to be determined.
