UNLV to steal Sanchez
Men's soccer
The Las Vegas Sun reports that Akron has offered its vacant men's soccer coaching job to assistant Mario Sanchez. BUT, the Sun says Sanchez will decline the Zips to take the job at UNLV. He has family in the area.
That would be a huge loss for the Zips. They needed to hire their next coach from within. To have that heir apparent reject Akron hurts.
Football
During a roundtable discussion of Dan Hawkins hiring at Colorado, a bunch of college football writers were asked who they think is the next Hawkins - a small-school coach who gets looks from a BCS school. One mentioned J.D. Brookhart. Luckily, the writer said it won't be another few years until Brookhart "jumps ship."
