The man behind the Fear the Roo campaign has taken a job at Cincinnati. Mike Waddell, aka the Nature Boy, aka UAM, aka Akron's associate athletic director for external relations, will take a similar position with the Bearcats.
Admittedly, it's a "tough" situation, he said. However, Waddell wants to be an athletic director. He realizes he can't do it without coming from a bigger school. I asked him if he has aspirations to come back to Akron someday, and he said its possible.
And don't worry, Cincinnati is "absolutely not" interested in Keith Dambrot. It has nothing to do with Dambrot's coaching skills. Waddell said he's an Akron guy, and his current job is probably his dream job.
Our mulleted friend and assistant coach, Brett Teach, has resigned due to personal reasons. An Indiana assistant is the likely replacement.

Coach Brian Vereb resigned today. His team finished seventh in the Mid-American Conference Tournament last weekend.
I have heard grumblings from inside the team that his recruiting efforts were subpar. That might be the reason, or it might not be.
