Yurachek named AD at Coastal Carolina
Miscellaneous
Akron's top associate athletic director is receiving a promotion -- although not the one he initially desired.
After finishing as a close runner-up for Akron's top job, Hunter Yurachek was named the new athletic director at Coastal Carolina.
It would have been nice if Laing Kennedy retired from Kent State a little sooner, because Yurachek probably would have been a favorite for the Flashes. The Coastal Carolina job opened sooner, however, and it seems to be a good fit geographically because Yurachek's in-laws are nearby.
The elephant in the room at the athletic department has been: When will Tom Wistrcill sweep out some employees to make room for his own people? Or will he do it at all? Now Wistrcill has an opportunity to install his own marketing guru to take Yurachek's spot.
I wish Yurachek luck at his new position.
