Update: Akbar has rescinded on his commitment.

A 6-foot-5 forward has committed to join Akron's 2012 recruiting class, according to HighMajorScoop.com.

Gary Akbar is product of Dayton's Dunbar High  school. Akbar averaged 10.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, according to MaxPreps.com, which ranks him as the 19th best senior-to-be in Ohio.

Here is what ESPN.com has to say about Akbar:

Strengths:
Akbar runs the floor and can finish at the rim through contact or over taller players with his athletic ability and strength. He attacks the rim in the half court with slashes that he uses a shot fake to set up and scores in the post with drop steps and spins. He is a good rebounder and especially on the offensive glass where he gets his share of tip in baskets.

Weaknesses:
Akbar is still in the develop stages but he has great upside and if he continues to work on his game be a very hot prospect in the state of Ohio as he enters his senior spring and summer.

Bottom Line:
Akbar is a young wing with talent and upside to go along with his aggressive style. He plays extremely hard and is versatile.

Akbar completes Akron's 2012 class, which also includes Puerto Rican guard Carmelo Betancourt.
