Zips advance to Sweet Sixteen
Men's soccer
Thanks to two goals from Anthony Ampaipitakwong and the typical feisty defense, Akron advanced past South Florida this evening at Lee Jackson Field by a 2-0 score.
Akron outshot South Florida 14-1. Eight Zips got at least one crack at the net.
In the next round of the NCAA Tournament -- the Sweet Sixteen -- Akron will play the winner of Stanford and UC-Irvine. That game starts tonight at 9.
As usual, Michael Beaven will have more on the game later.
