Zips basketball: Black uniform sales information
From a UA Athletic Department release:
Due to the enormous fan feedback regarding Akron's new black Nike jerseys, Zips Athletics has decided to create and sell a limited run of replica and authentic black merchandise during Saturday's nationally-televised contest against Ohio (5 p.m. ET, ESPNU).
Replica black t-shirts will be available for $15 and replica jerseys will be for sale for $50. The t-shirts will be available with #44 or #11 on them, and either "@ZipsMBB" or "ZIPS" printed on the back. The replica jerseys will also be available with #44 or #11 but the backs will only have "ZIPS" printed on them.
Fans will also be able to place custom orders for authentic Nike jerseys and shorts identical to what the team will wear on the court. Authentic jerseys will be $150 and shorts will be $110 (not including tax). Fans can specify the jersey number and twitter handle they would like on the back or have "ZIPS" sewn on like the team jerseys.
All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Z-Fund, the fund-raising organization of Akron Athletics and provides financial support for all athletic scholarships, academic affairs, summer school, facilities, and operational needs of the athletics department.
All items will be available at a location next to the team shop in the main lobby of Rhodes Arena. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. Orders of authentic items will take several weeks to fill and orders will be accepted through the evening of Saturday, February 16, at the Zips basketball doubleheader. An online ordering process is currently being worked on and should go live early next week. At this time orders will only be taken in-person at Saturday's games.
