From an UA Athletic Department news release:
The complete bracket for the 2013 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic was announced on Wednesday and the Akron Zips will open the tournament with an ESPNU matchup with Oregon State on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
The contest will be the second of four games on that Sunday, with all four games set to air on ESPNU. The match-up will be the first between the Zips and the Beavers.
"We are excited about the level of competition at the tournament and having the opportunity to play Oregon State," head coach Keith Dambrot said. "We welcome the challenge of playing a team from the PAC 12, one of the top conferences in the nation. We know all of the teams heading to Hawaii will have great seasons and we are excited to play any and all of them."
Overall, the Zips are 1-3 against the current members of the PAC 12, posting a 1-1 record against Arizona State and 0-1 records against California and Washington State. Akron last played a PAC 12 team on Dec. 3, 2005, an 89-75 loss at California.
With a win, the Zips would to face the winner of the Iowa State-George Mason contest on Monday, Dec. 23. That game is also set to air on ESPNU, with tip-off scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The championship game of the tournament is set for Wednesday, Dec. 25, at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
