UA announces ticket prices for soccer matches
The University of Akron announced season ticket packages for the 2011 men's and women's soccer home schedule at Cub Cadet Field, formerly known as Lee R. Jackson Field.
Ticket prices for the men's matches have increased, which is not a surprise after the Zips won the national championship.
Once again, those who purchase a men's season ticket package will receive one complimentary Akron Soccer scarf, which is exclusive to season ticketholders (one per season ticket). Those who renew their men's season tickets by May 20 will receive a portion from one of the net used during the 2010 NCAA championship match in Santa Barbara (one per account). There is a waiting list for chair-back and bleacher-back season tickets.
To renew your account or to become a Zips soccer season ticket holder, log on to GoZips.com/tickets, call 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visit the Akron Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field (located at the southwest corner of the venue, near Gate 1). The UA Athletics Ticket Office is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Championship bling available to Zips soccer fans
The University of Akron announced that fans can purchase a 2010 national championship replica ring or pendant in celebration of the Zips men's soccer program that won the title.
Short sleeve T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts and hooded sweatshirts were first made available to the public. The replica championship ring - made from Celestrium stainless steel - is a copy of what the UA coaching staff and players will receive for their accomplishment last season. Last names up to 14 characters can be added to personalize a ring. Pendants, which are identical to the face of the ring, include a chain, but names cannot be added.
Both the pendant and replica ring can be purchased for $250 each. All orders must be received by July 1, 2011, as supplies are limited.
"The bond between this championship team and our fans was amazing, and with Coach Porter's encouragement we wanted to offer this option to recognize how much we believe they, our fans, are a part of our team," UA Director of Athletics Tom Wistrcill said. "We look forward to presenting rings to those Zips fans who take advantage of this exclusive opportunity."

Zips men's soccer sets 2011 schedule
Ten home games, including visits from three Big Ten Schools, Wake Forest, New Mexico, and a season opener against Cleveland State with historic implications, highlight the fall schedule of the NCAA champion University of Akron men's soccer team, coach Caleb Porter announced.
The Zips, who won the school's first team national championship in any sport in 2010, will make two trips to the state of California, host the annual University of Akron Tournament and play at Michigan, UC Santa Barbara, Tulsa and St. Louis in 2011. UA will face seven opponents who competed in last season's NCAA Tournament and four who advanced to the Round of 16 or beyond.
