From a University of Akron Department of Athletics press release:
University of Akron forward Rachel Tecca has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
This is the first time this season and the seventh time in her career Tecca has earned the conference's weekly award.
As the reigning MAC Player of the Year, Tecca set the bar high once again in the first game of her senior season last week. In Akron's 98-69 win over Florida Atlantic, Tecca shot 63.2 percent from the field (12-of-19), setting a new career-high with 36 points in just 27 minutes of action.
Tecca's scoring effort was two points shy of tying Akron's single-game record, and was the highest single-game point total by a MAC player on opening weekend.
The Tallmadge, Ohio, native also added 12 rebounds for the 28th double-double of her career, as well as three steals. Tecca nearly reached double-double status by halftime, posting 18 of her points and pulling down eight boards in the first half alone against FAU.
Toledo's Inma Zanoguera earned the MAC's weekly honor for the West Division.
